In late April, Good Neighbor Pharmacy celebrated its grand opening of a new concept pharmacy, a storefront designed to show GNP owner/operators best practices and merchandising potential. The programs on display at this particular store should not only appeal to the pharmacy’s current patient base, but are designed to drive additional customers into the Good Neighbor Pharmacy as well.

The Issaquah, Wash.-based membership mass merchandising chain opened its doors in a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the new East River Plaza development in East Harlem. The store is the fourth in New York City, after the stores in Brooklyn, Staten Island and Queens.

Walgreens celebrated the grand opening of its 7,000th store Thursday, Oct. 1, in Brooklyn, on the edge of New York City's iconic Coney Island neighborhood. Local officials, including borough president Marty Markowitz and others, were on hand to welcome the retailer to the neighborhood during a special ribbon-cutting ceremony. Charles R. "Cork" Walgreen III, grandson of the company's founder and former chairman of the board, also was in attendance to help mark the auspicious occasion.
