The National Association of Chain Drug Stores Foundation announced retired Gen. Colin L. Powell, former U.S. secretary of state and former chairman of the joint chiefs of staff, will be the keynote speaker for the 2012 NACDS Foundation Dinner on Nov. 27 in New York City.

HBA executive Gary Burns passes away

Gary J. Burns, 74, of Lake Forest, Ill., and Naples, Fla., passed away July 24. He was born Feb. 7, 1938, in Saginaw, Mich. Burns served in the U.S. Army and then embarked upon a long and successful career in the health and beauty aids industry.
