Alembic gets FDA nod for generic Zanaflex

Alembic has obtained the Food and Drug Administration’s clearance for its generic Zanaflex (tizanidine hydrochloride capsules). The product was approved in dosage strengths of 2 mg, 4 mg, and 6 mg.

Tizanidine hydrochloride is a central alpha-2-adrenergic agonist indicated for the management of spasticity.

Tizanidine hydrochloride had a market value of roughly $28 million for the 12 months ended September 2019, according to IQVIA.
