Americares, in partnership with the Healthcare Distribution Alliance, presented its annual Power of Partnership Award to Teva Pharmaceuticals in recognition of its outstanding commitment to increasing access to medicines for patients in need worldwide.

Americares deputy medical officer Dr. Adam Schwartz presented the award today at HDA’s Business and Leadership Conference in Orlando, Fla. Americares and HDA created the Power of Partnership Award 20 years ago to recognize HDA-member pharmaceutical manufacturers and distributors that have demonstrated exceptional dedication to expanding access to health care.

“Teva is one of Americares most dedicated and longstanding supporters, donating enough medicine over the past 29 years to fill nearly 19 million prescriptions,” Schwartz said during the award presentation. “With Teva’s support we are increasing access to health for people and communities in need all over the world.”

Teva is one of Americares top product donors, donating medicines valued at $48 million last year alone for distribution to Americares partner health centers in low and middle-income countries. Over the years, Teva products have reached Americares partner organizations and health facilities in 124 countries. The donated products include medicines to manage respiratory illness, hypertension, cholesterol, diabetes, depression, as well as lifesaving antibiotics. Teva also has donated medicines over the years to support Americares responses to the 2010 Haiti earthquake, flooding in the Philippines and the humanitarian crisis caused by the war in Ukraine.

“Expanding access to medicines for underserved populations is a core element of Teva’s Health Future sustainability strategy,” said Carol Richardson, U.S. head of sustainability and health equity at Teva. “Teva is honored to receive this prestigious recognition from Americares, our longstanding partner, and we look forward to continuing our work together to help provide quality care to people in need around the world.”

In 2024, Teva launched a produce-to-give program to provide a dedicated supply of essential medicines to three Americares partner health facilities in El Salvador. In the first year of the program, Teva donated enough medicines to fill more than 13,500 prescriptions for patients in need. The donated products included medications to treat infections, cardiovascular disease and gastrointestinal issues.

Our longstanding partnership with Americares on the Power of Partnership Award helps highlight companies—like Teva—that are making a meaningful impact through philanthropy.”
