Snickers intros limited-edition intense flavors

By Gisselle Gaitan - 06/04/2018
For a limited-time, Snickers fans can get their hands on an array of new intense chocolate flavors.

The Hackettstown, N.J.-based company unveiled three new additions to its portfolio — espresso, fiery and salty and sweet — that are now available in retail locations nationwide.

Each bar contains peanuts and caramel that are covered in milk chocolate, with a bold flavor twist of either espresso, chili pepper or salt.

All three launches will join the “You’re Not You When You’re Hungry” campaign, with each of the Snickers Intense flavors corresponding to the hunger symptom on the outside of the packaging: irritable = espresso, wimpy = fiery and indecisive = salty and sweet.

On June 19, an ‘intense’ pop-up from Snickers will debut in New York City, which will feature escape-room style challenges related to each of the new flavors. Each challenge will be set in a bunker-inspired room and ask fans to solve the question, “Which intense flavor will you need to survive the intense hunger?”

“Our fans have adventurous tastes and are craving new flavors, and experiences, from Snickers,” Michael Italia, senior brand manager of the Snickers brand, said. “The new Snickers Intense flavors are designed to solve everyone's irritable, wimpy and indecisive hunger symptoms with correlating flavors: espresso, fiery and salty and sweet. We feel the Snickers Hunger Bunker is a unique way to highlight the intensity of our new flavors and give our fans a satisfying experience.”

The products launch will be supported by a variety of such 360 marketing tactics as in-store promotions with Shazam, television, print, online video ads, social media and an interactive in-app experience with Spotify and Coffee Labs.

Further information can be found on the company’s website and social media channels. The brand also is asking fans to share their experience by using the #EatASnickers hashtag.
