The CDC's Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices will meet next week to discuss further clinical recommendations.

The Food and Drug Administration will take the committee’s vote under consideration, and vaccine advisers to the CDC will meet from Nov. 2 to 3 to decide whether to recommend that children get the COVID-19 vaccine.

There are now booster recommendations for all three available COVID-19 vaccines, and eligible individuals may choose which vaccine they receive as a booster dose.

Walgreens, Hy-Vee, CVS Health, Walmart and Sam’s Club have begun administering Moderna and J&J COVID-19 vaccine booster shots to eligible patients.

The FDA plans to further assess the benefits and risks of the use of booster doses in additional populations, and update the healthcare community and public in the coming weeks.

The Biden Administration said it has secured enough supply to vaccinate 28 million children between the ages of 5 to 11 years old who would become eligible for COVID-19 vaccination if authorization is given.

The Food and Drug Administration is expected to authorize boosters of the Moderna and Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccines by Oct. 20, at which time it could also allow the mix and match of boosters.

The FDA’s Vaccines and Related Biological Products Advisory Committee voted to recommend a booster for all recipients of the J&J Janssen COVID-19 vaccine, aged 18 years old and older, at least two months after their first dose.
