Louis & Clark Pharmacy professionals earn official certification as dementia practitioners
Springfield, Mass.-based independent pharmacy, Louis & Clark Pharmacy, shared that its pharmacists are prioritizing memory-loss care to meet the growing demands of their customer base with specialized training from the National Council of Certified Dementia Practitioners.
Four pharmacists at Louis & Clark—Kara James, president; Sarah Stevens, pharmacist supervisor; Tiffany Mason; and Ayeisca Reyes—recently received NCCDP certification after completing extensive in-person training and education at JGS Lifecare in Longmeadow.
“With dementia cases on the rise worldwide, our caregivers are under tremendous pressure,” James said. “We are committed to providing them with the highest level of support possible to deliver the excellent service their patients deserve.”

With this new certification, the independent pharmacy is elevating its impact on the dementia care community.
“We strive to give our customers who are caregivers the most up-to-date information they need to make a positive difference,” James said. “The more we understand the needs of people with dementia, the better we can anticipate and respond to behavioral changes effectively.”
The program requires re-certification every two years and is aimed at helping practitioners improve outcomes and quality of life for dementia patients. Training focuses on person-centered care approaches that allow patients to experience joy, living in the moment.
