The National Association of Chain Drug Stores’ Total Store Expo, originally slated to be held in Denver in August is going virtual, Aug. 23-25.

"Current realities of the COVID-19 pandemic and the travel policies of many NACDS members dictate that in-person conferences remain impractical for the immediate future. As a result, the 2021 NACDS Total Store Expo will be held virtually," NACDS said.

Commenting on the decision to hold the event virtually, NACDS president and CEO Steve Anderson said, “We had hoped to announce today that the industry would be coming together in person at the NACDS Total Store Expo this August to build upon the success of the virtual NACDS Annual Meeting. The NACDS TSE would have been the perfect time and venue to assess the trajectory of the nation, the industry, retailer-supplier partnerships, and other issues directly related to your business and your customers. NACDS is still committed to this goal. However, the current realities of the COVID-19 pandemic and the travel policies of many NACDS members dictate that in-person conferences remain impractical for the immediate future. As a result, NACDS is announcing that the 2021 NACDS TSE will be held virtually Aug. 23-25."

Anderson noted that the NACDS executive committee and the board of directors have been highly engaged in the decision to present a virtual format for the 2021 NACDS TSE that includes valuable programming and member meetings.

"The NACDS board is committed to the success of the virtual NACDS TSE, which will feature: a relevant and timely business program presented by NACDS leadership and noted speakers — including experts in meeting and exceeding consumers’ rapidly evolving expectations opportunities for essential meetings between retailers and suppliers across multiple functions — fostering discussion and insights to drive innovation, evaluate consumer trends and discover new opportunities a focus on expanded participation by NACDS member company teams, and further recognition for NACDS members’ service to their communities and nation."

NACDS said it would refund any funds already paid toward the 2021 Total Store Expo to members. Contact Jim Whitman, NACDS’ senior vice president, member programs and services, at 703-837-4610, [email protected], with any questions. Additional information on the virtual NACDS TSE is available on the 2021 NACDS TSE website.

"Please know that your strong commitment and engagement in NACDS are deeply appreciated," Anderson said. "Together we have united during the pandemic to ensure that America’s pharmacies are the face of neighborhood healthcare. We look forward to honoring and recognizing that in August, and we remain eagerly focused on seeing you in person very soon."
