Essentia Water has a new owner.

The functional water brand announced that it has been acquired by Nestlé USA.

News of the acquisition comes on the heels of Nestlé previously announcing that it will be expanding its global water business by focusing on international premium and mineral water brands.

“With the addition of Essentia, we continue to transform and best position our water business for long-term profitable growth here in the U.S. and globally,” said Steve Presley, chairman and CEO of Nestlé USA

Essentia’s water, which contains a pH of 9.5 or higher, joins the company’s other water brands, including Perrier, S. Pellegrino and Acqua Panna.

“We are excited to welcome the Essentia team to the Nestlé family as we expand our premium water portfolio," Presley said. "Essentia gives us an immediate strong presence in the high-growth, functional water segment and supports our efforts to capture opportunities with emerging consumer trends such as healthy hydration.”
