  • New ScarAway scar diminishing serum enters market

    GUILFORD, Conn. — Mitchell-Vance Laboratories, which specializes in the treatment and prevention of scars, has announced the introduction of its new ScarAway scar diminishing serum.

    The product is launching at Walgreens stores nationwide in April for a suggested retail price of $17.99.

    ScarAway scar diminishing serum is designed to effectively shrink, flatten and fade hypertrophic (raised) and keloid scars, which may result from surgical procedures, injuries, burns, stretch marks or acne.

  • Bolthouse Farms expands Protein Plus line

    BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — Bolthouse Farms unveiled the newest addition to its Protein Plus beverage line.

    Retailing for about $3.19 for each 12.5-oz. bottle, the parfait smoothie is Bolthouse's third Protein Plus variety. Each parfait smoothie features 25-g protein and contains 180 calories and 3 grams of fiber per serving.

    The Protein Plus parfait smoothie and other Bolthouse Farms products are available at such retailers as Acme and Stop and Shop.

  • Teva's Qnaze meets endpoints in phase-3 trial

    JERUSALEM — An investigational drug made by Teva Pharmaceutical Industries for treating allergies is safe and effective, according to results of a late-stage clinical trial announced Wednesday.

    Teva said the phase-3 trial of the nasally inhaled drug Qnaze (beclomethasone dipropionate) showed that it significantly relieved symptoms of seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis compared with placebo while demonstrating a similar safety profile.

  • Save-A-Tooth product recommended as part of first aid kit

    WAYNE, Pa. — Phoenix-Lazerus recently announced that both the National Institutes of Health and the Mayo Clinic now recommend the company’s Save-A-Tooth product be included as part of any first aid kit.

    Phoenix-Lazarus offers a “The Complete First Aid Kit” on Amazon for $24.95. Invented by a dentist, the Save-A-Tooth is a six-part system that protects knocked-out teeth.

    According to the company, more than 5 million teeth are knocked out each year in the United States.

  • 'May the force be with you:' M&M's featured in 'Star Wars' novelty items

    NEW YORK — CandyRific has joined Lucasfilm's "Star Wars" with iconic M&M's candies through a new license pairing.

    The new M&M's "Star Wars" lineup includes such items as 9-in. and 12-in. dispensers (retailing for $4.99 and $12.99, respectively), candy fans ($3.99), coin banks ($2.99) and lightsabers ($3.99). Many of the products feature M&M's dressed as classic "Star Wars" characters, including Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, Darth Vader and Han Solo.

  • Biovail Labs to distribute Aczone in Canada

    MISSISSAUGA, Ontario — Valeant Pharmaceuticals subsidiary Biovail Labs International has licensed Canadian rights to a treatment for acne from Allergan, Valeant said Tuesday.

    Under the terms of the agreement concerning the drug Aczone (dapsone) gel in the 5% strength, Biovail will pay Allergan about $500,000 Canadian dollars (about $504,693) upfront, as well as payments based on net sales.
