AmerisourceBergen Foundation commits $75K for Hurricane Dorian relief

9/11/2019
The AmerisourceBergen Foundation, a not-for-profit charitable giving organization focused on supporting health-related causes that enrich the global community, committed more than $75,000 to support relief efforts in the communities affected by Hurricane Dorian.

The Foundation has made its targeted donations to both regional and national organizations focused on supporting relief efforts in the Bahamas and Southeast United States, including the Grand Bahama Disaster Relief Foundation, GreaterGood.org, Wings of Rescue, Healthcare Ready and the American Red Cross.

Each grant recipient is dedicated to building healthy communities and improving health outcomes and will be working to address pressing needs, such as the delivery of critical medications for people and pets, establishment of temporary housing and shelter for both individuals and animals, and the support of long-term disaster relief needs.

In addition, the Foundation has committed to match AmerisourceBergen associate donations made to the American Red Cross through the Foundation’s matching gift program, myCommunityImpact, at a 2-to-1 ratio.

“It’s heartbreaking to see the devastation in our communities, and as our neighbors begin to face the challenge of rebuilding, we hope to enhance the ongoing relief efforts by supporting community organizations on the ground,” said Gina Clark, AmerisourceBergen Foundation president. “In order to maximize our impact, we identified regional partner organizations that allow us to work together to expand access to quality care and have a positive impact during this critical time.”
