Benzer launches pharmacy residency program

2/22/2017

TAMPA, Fla. — Benzer Pharmacy will be introducing a pharmacy residency program, the company announced Wednesday. The post-grad training program is aimed at providing pharmacy students with training that focuses on clinical care.

“Benzer Pharmacy is excited to initiate the pharmacy residency program which will provide practitioners with a competitive edge over their peers,” the company’s chief clinical officer, Lindsay Wall,  said.

In Florida, only three sites in the state offer a community pharmacy residency program, the company said, adding that it is the only commercial pharmacy-based institution offering the option in Florida. The program will focus on medication therapy management, chronic disease state management, asthma education and business development.

“We shall host one pharmacy resident per 12-month period,” Wall said. “The first resident is expected to start in July 2017 and he/she will receive a stipend too.”

Benzer Pharmacy will select residents through a match program through the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists’ Pharmacy Online Residency Centralized Application Service. The company is currently accepting applications.
