Benzer Pharmacy opens La. specialty hub

NEW ORLEANS, La. — Benzer Pharmacy on Friday opened its third pharmacy in Louisiana, a specialty pharmacy with a focus on HIV and hepatitis C treatments.

 

“We are treating this location as a specialty hub following reports that Louisiana has high occurrences of Hep C and HIV,” Mike LaBrecque, VP Benzer Specialty Pharmacy said. According to Louisiana’s 2015 State Health Profile, which used numbers from 2013, the state has the 11th-highest in the number of HIV diagnoses as well. “The specialty hub will coordinate and meet all of the medication needs of the patient including: specialty, traditional, OTC, etc., LaBrecque said. 

 

The location will be open Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and offer insurance benefits verification, prior authorization completion, appeals processing and drug/disease patient therapy management. 

 

The story is Benzer’s sixth location to open this year. The company has more than 50 locations in nine states.
