PepsiCo, Feed the Children team to fight hunger in Rochester
ROCHESTER, N.Y. — PepsiCo and Feed the Children joined forces today to provide food and daily essentials to 800 families in need. The two organizations were joined by Rochester’s Catholic Family Center to hand out enough supplies to sustain a family of four for a week.
“This is PepsiCo's first Feed the Children event in Rochester and we're excited to be here and provide food and daily essentials to the families in our community,” said Jesse Pitts, Rochester’s Pepsi Beverages Company unit sales manager.
Families in Rochester, where almost a third of families live below the poverty line, received 25 pounds of food, 10 pounds of necessities and a box of AVON products from the event. They also received Frito Lay snakcs, Quaker grits and Chewy Granola Bars, Rice-a-Roni chicken mix, Lipton Ice Tead and Aquafina water. Peanut butter, potatoes and canned soups were donated by local Tops Markets.
“Tops is committed to eradicating hunger in the communities we serve," Andy Brocato, Tops Markets’ director of community and public relations. “We're thrilled to partner with our friends at PepsiCo and Feed the Children in this initiative. The way we see it, we're simply neighbors helping neighbors.”
