Report: Supervalu combines Farm Fresh and Shoppers operations staff

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. — Supervalu combined the merchandising and operations staff of its Farm Fresh and Shoppers brand names, according to a report in The Virginian-Pilot.

SuperValu spokesman Jeff Swanson told the newspaper on Thursday that 21 of 44 merchandising and operations positions in Virginia Beach, Va., were eliminated. He said a remaining 23 jobs in operations would stay in Hampton Roads, Va.

The spokesman also told the news outlet Micky Nye, Farm Fresh’s president, would stay in Virginia Beach but would be regional vice president of operations for Ed Prairie-based SuperValu, overseeing Farm Fresh, Shoppers and the company’s Shop ‘n Save brand of stores.

Swanson stated the customer experience will not change.

“Everything will look and feel the same,” he told the news source.
