Sanofi-Aventis launches diabetes YouTube channel

2/19/2009

BRIDGEWATER, N.J. A drug maker hopes to challenge some of the myths and misperceptions about insulin use and help patients with Type 2 diabetes better manage their condition with a new channel on YouTube.

Sanofi-Aventis announced the launch of the channel, www.youtube.com/goinsulin <http://www.youtube.com/goinsulin> , as part of its multi-media GoInsulin campaign, designed to encourage Type 2 diabetes patients to use insulin and control their blood sugar. The YouTube channel also links to the main www.goinsulin.com Web site.

"There are a lot of myths and misperceptions out there about insulin," Sanofi-Aventis U.S. senior manager for metabolism marketing Lynn Crowe said in a statement. "Many people with Type 2 diabetes who are not able to achieve blood glucose control with diet, exercise and other diabetes medications alone see the need for insulin as a sign of failure."
