Twelve pharmacy schools receive more than $200,000 in money for scholarships

ARLINGTON, Va. — The National Association of Chain Drug Stores' charitable arm has awarded $230,000 in scholarships to pharmacy students, the organization said Tuesday.

The NACDS Foundation said it gave awards ranging from $10,000 to $40,000 to pharmacy schools' scholarship funds through its Pharmacy Partners Scholarship Program. The awards will provide financial assistance to students working toward doctor of pharmacy degrees.

This year's award recipients were selected from 48 applicants and were supported by 27 benefactors that included NACDS chain members and associate members. The recipients, awards and benefactors included:

• University of Iowa College of Pharmacy, $40,000, Wayne Roberts Memorial Scholarship;


• University of Pittsburgh School of Pharmacy, $30,000, Lilly USA LLC Scholarship;


• University of Toledo College of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, $20,000, Boehringer Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals.

The NACDS Foundation gave out the following awards:

• Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences University School of Pharmacy - Boston, $20,000;


• University of Texas at Austin College of Pharmacy, $30,000;


• University of Oklahoma College of Pharmacy, $20,000;


• University of Tennessee Health Science Center College of Pharmacy, $20,000;


• Duquesne University Mylan School of Pharmacy, $10,000;


• Southern Illinois University Edwardsville School of Pharmacy, $10,000;


• University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus Skaggs School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, $10,000;


• West Virginia University School of Pharmacy, $10,000;


• Western New England University College of Pharmacy, $10,000.
