Walgreens appoints new divisional VP, treasurer

8/21/2009

DEERFIELD, Ill. Walgreens announced the appointment of Jason Dubinsky as divisional VP and treasurer. Dubinsky, 36, will join Walgreens Aug. 24 from The Goldman Sachs Group in Chicago, where he served as VP investment banking in the division’s consumer retail group.

At Walgreens, Dubinsky will oversee all financing, banking and investing activities for the nation’s largest drugstore chain. Additionally, he will be responsible for corporate risk management and partnering on investor relations matters.

“Jason’s background in both public accounting and investment banking makes him an exceptional choice to lead our treasury department and corporate risk management practice,” said Walgreens president and CEO Greg Wasson. “Jason also brings a strong background in retail, top-notch strategic thinking and creative skills, and a great spirit of collaboration.”

Dubinsky has more than 12 years of finance, accounting and investment experience. He spent the last three years at Goldman Sachs, a $64.5 billion global bank holding company, where he led merger and acquisition transactions, and managed strategic advisory and financing assignments for corporate clients in the retail and consumer sectors. Previously, Dubinsky served as VP investment banking at Lehman Brothers and was with the firm from 2000-2006. Prior to that, he held a senior accountant position with Arthur Andersen in New York.

Dubinsky replaces John Spina, who was promoted last month to Walgreens corporate VP retail integration and new format development.
