J.R. Watkins launches pain relief remedies

J.R. Watkins is returning to its apothecary roots and bringing two pain relief lines to stores. The San Francisco-based company is introducing the Muscle and Cooling pain relief lines, which include patches, sprays, roll-ons and a gel.

The Muscle Pain Relief line focuses on penetrating pain relief for muscle strains and soreness, as well as aching joints via natural camphor, magnesium, vitamin D and peppermint. The Cooling Pain Relief Line uses natural menthol, arnica and vitamin E to offer fast-acting pain relief for backaches and joints.

"As pioneers of natural, pain-relief remedies for over a century, we're thrilled to continue to lead and innovate within the over-the-counter topical analgesic category,” said Melissa Ayers, J.R. Watkins vice president of marketing and innovation. “The Muscle and Cooling Pain Relief lines provide ingredient-conscious consumers with better-for-you pain relief alternatives without compromising efficacy.”

The Muscle Pain Relief line includes Muscle Pain Relief Lotion, the Muscle Pain Relief Roll-On and the Muscle Pain Relief Spray, all of which retail for $16.99. The Cooling Pain Relief line includes the Cooling Menthol Extra Strength Pain Relief Patch with 7.5% menthol, the Cooling Menthol Extra Strength Pain Relief Gel, Cooling Menthol Extra Strength Pain Relief Roll-On and a pain relief spray, all of which retail for $15.99.

Both lines are debuting at CVS Pharmacy March 5.

“We are excited by the partnership with CVS Pharmacy to bring these innovative products to consumers nationwide,” Ayers said.
