AgaMatrix assures WaveSense meters produce accurate results

8/27/2009

SALEM, N.H. A company that manufactures a line of blood glucose meters said its meters don’t run the risk of giving inaccurate results.

AgaMatrix announced Thursday that its WaveSense meters did not use GDH PQQ technology, which has been known to interact with some immune and peritoneal kidney dialysis drugs, causing inaccurately high blood glucose readings that could prompt excessive administration of insulin.

The Food and Drug Administration released a statement earlier this month warning healthcare practitioners against using glucose test strips that use GDH PQQ, which stands for glucose dehydrogenase pyrroloquinoline quinine.
