American Consultants Rx offers free discount cards

ATLANTA A church in Albany, N.Y. became one of the main locations to receive free prescription discount cards under a program to help uninsured and underinsured patients deal with the high cost of prescription drugs.

American Consultants Rx, the operator of the program, said Wednesday that Resurrection Ministries received the cards, which offer discounts on branded and generic drugs of up to 40% and 60%, respectively. The cards are accepted at more than 50,000 stores across the country, including national chains.

The program was initially launched in 2004 and has donated more than 25 million cards to more than 18,000 organizations across the country, including non-profits, hospitals, schools and churches.
