AT&T, Covisint partner with Microsoft Health Vault

BELLEVUE, Wash. Users of Microsoft HealthVault can share personal health information with all physicians and other health-care professionals who use AT&T Healthcare Community Online.

Microsoft, Covisint and AT&T issued a joint statement Monday saying that the new eHealth initiative would improve health care while reducing costs and giving patients more control over their health records.

The service will allow physicians to prescribe drugs online, share high-density images such as X-rays and MRIs and monitor patients who upload data from health devices such as glucometers and blood-pressure meters.

The service uses Covisint’s On-Demand Healthcare Platform.

AT&T Healthcare Community Online uses a secure virtual private network, or VPN technology, to enable health-care professionals to share medical information online.
