Can-Am Care announces click-on pen needles available to all U.S. pharmacies

6/5/2009

ATLANTA A company that makes branded and store-brand diabetes care products has expanded the national distribution of a line of click-on pen needles.

Can-Am Care announced this week that its Clickfine pen needles are available to all pharmacies in the United States through drug wholesalers AmerisourceBergen, Cardinal, McKesson and H.D. Smith.

The needles are also available at such chains as Publix, Kroger stores, Discount Drug Mart and Food City. Walmart sells them under its ReliOn brand, and they’re sold at Good Neighbor Pharmacy’s more than 2,700 independent retail pharmacies under the Good Neighbor Pharmacy Clickfine Pen Needles brand.

The pen needles are compatible with major brands of insulin pens, such as Sanofi-Aventis’ Solostar, Novo Nordisk’s Flexpen and Eli Lilly & Co.’s Kwikpen, as well as other such  injection pens as Lilly’s and Amylin Pharmaceuticals’ Byetta and Amylin’s SymlinPen.

“With distribution now through the major drug wholesalers, more and more people with diabetes now have access to the one pen needle that’s fast, easy and simple to attach with just a ‘clock’ instead of traditional twists and turns — and the cost is substantially less than the leading pen needle brand,” said Julie Arel, Can-Am Care marketing manager for insulin delivery.
