CDC online pandemic story collection raises awareness of flu potential
NEW YORK The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has released an online collection of stories from survivors and loved ones of people affected by the influenza pandemics of 1918 and 1957.
The collection contains stories, photographs and other material relating to the pandemics. The 1918 pandemic, of which this year is the 90th anniversary, claimed as many as 50 million lives around the world.
Many experts fear that new flu strains could cause similar pandemics in the future.
