Medicis recalls two lots of antibiotic
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. Medicis is voluntarily recalling two lots of its antibiotic minocycline, marketed as Solodyn, following the discovery of an immune-suppressant drug mixed with it.
The company is recalling lot numbers B080037 and B080038 after a bottle in lot number B080037 was discovered to contain Azasan, the brand name for azathioprine. The lots contain 90mg, extended-release tablets of Solodyn in 30-day supplies. The recall is limited to the two lots, both manufactured in February.
Azasan can cause infections, bleeding, chills, nausea, diarrhea and decreases in counts of red and white blood cells and platelets, especially in the elderly.
