PITTSBURGH Mylan has launched a generic short-term treatment for insomnia, the generic drug maker said Tuesday.

Mylan said its subsidiary, Mylan Pharmaceuticals, launched temazepam capsules in the 7.5-mg strength. The drug is a generic version of Mallinckrodt’s Restoril. Mylan already markets generic versions of the drug in the 15-mg, 22.5-mg and 30-mg strengths.

The 7.5-mg strength of the drug had sales of around $56 million during the 12-month period ending in March, according to IMS Health.
