Publix Pharmacy offers biometric screenings for patients

7/20/2015

LAKELAND, Fla. — Publix Pharmacy has announced that it is offering biometric screenings at the company’s more than 970 pharmacy locations. The screenings, offered to those 18 and older, will help patients understand their risk for developing chronic conditions, such as diabetes, high blood pressure or high cholesterol.

“As both a supermarket and pharmacy, we are uniquely positioned to assist our customers in their overall health and wellness goals,” Maria Brous, Publix media and community relations director, said. “Biometric screenings are an additional service we provide to our customers and associates in a convenient location.”

The results are provided within minutes of taking the test or tests and a pharmacist consultation is provided. Results from the biometric screenings will be kept on file so that the Publix pharmacist may refer back to previous screenings to identify changes and trends in the patient’s overall health.

Appointments for the biometric screenings are not necessary; however, in order to receive the most accurate results, it is recommended that patients fast for 8-12 hours prior to their screening.

As part of the company’s overall commitment to the health and wellness of its associates, Publix offers free biometric screenings to their associates 18 years of age and older.
