Ramsell, Mirixa launch pharmacist-delivered HIV/AIDS service
RESTON, Va. Ramsell Pharmacy Solutions and Mirixa have joined together to launch a pharmacist-delivered medication therapy management initiative for people with HIV/AIDS. This new program will allow pharmacists to provide education and advice for the nearly 146,000 AIDS Drug Assistance Program patients in the United States.
The initiative will use Ramsell’s experience in HIV/AIDS and public health pharmacy clinical services, and will be delivered thorugh MirixaPro, Mirixa’s medication care management system. In addition to each state ADAP organization, the same services will be offered to state Medicaid plans.
Programs developed through the initiative will involve the electronic delivery of patient cases to community-based pharmacies. The pharmacists then invite patients to engage in confidential face-to-face education sessions, which are designed to improve medication-related care and increase treatment adherence.
“This collaboration leverages the well documented and high level of trust that exists between patients and community pharmacists. We look forward to working with Ramsell based on its deep experience in public health to deliver quality coaching and education to people living with HIV/AIDS,” expressed Rick Solano, chief executive officer of Mirixa Corp. “This initiative represents a national opportunity to help a population in need and to make a difference in HIV/AIDS medication-related care,” Solano added.
