Report: Web-hosting companies removing alleged illegal Rx sites
NEW YORK Web-hosting companies are eliminating sites that sell drugs illegally before a new law that strengthens regulations on online pharmacies goes into effect, according to published reports.
The new law, President Bush signed earlier this month, requires patients buying drugs from online pharmacies to have prescriptions from a doctor, and requires the pharmacies to register with the Food and Drug Administration, just as traditional pharmacies must do.
According to reports, such companies as Hosting.com and GoDaddy.com already were removing sites that allegedly sold prescription drugs illegally.
