MISSISSAUGA, Ontario  — Rexall pharmacists in Ontario are now permitted to administer 13 more vaccinations that prevent shingles, hepatitis and cervical cancer, as well as several vaccines to people that are travelling overseas.

"Rexall and our pharmacists welcome the opportunity to provide patients with an enhanced level of care," stated Warren Jeffery, COO Rexall. "We would like to thank the Minister of Health and Long-Term Care, Dr. Eric Hoskins and the government for recognizing the increasingly important role pharmacists are playing in the health care system," he said.

"Enabling patients to access more services closer to home, in their community pharmacy is another important step towards improving the overall health and wellness of Ontarians," added Jeffery.

Expanding by 13 the list of vaccinations that can be administered to patients is part of the province's new strategy, Immunization 2020, which focuses on improving access to immunizations, including leveraging the professional and convenient care that pharmacists offer to help improve vaccination rates, Ontario announced earlier this month.
