Survey shows women increasingly in favor of 'extended cycle' contraception
NEW YORK A majority of American women would like to stop monthly menstrual bleeding, according to a survey by the Association of Reproductive Health Professionals.
Many of the contraceptive pills on the market today, such as Seasonale and Seasonique, reduce menstrual bleeding to four times a year, while Lybrel stops it completely. Others, such as Loestrin 24 Fe and Yaz, continue monthly menstrual bleeding but shorten periods.
A number of women surveyed questioned the safety of suppressing menstruation, but almost all doctors said it was safe.
