URI's pharmacy school received $6.3 million in NIH grants in 2009

KINGSTON, R.I. The University of Rhode Island’s pharmacy school ranks 18th in the nation in grant money from the National Institutes of Health, according to published reports.

The Good 5 Cent Cigar, URI’s campus newspaper, reported Friday that the school received $6.3 million in NIH grants last year alone. The NIH list includes 68 schools.

The newspaper also reported that construction had started for the College of Pharmacy’s new building, a five-story, 145,000-sq.-ft. building being constructed at a cost of $65 million and expected to open in 2012.
