Target to remodel 1,000 stores through 2020

Target is celebrating not one, but two big moments.

The retailer announced that its opened 100th small-format store has opened, and 500th remodel has also been completed.

“In 2017, we made a big bet on putting our stores at the center of how we serve our guests,” Target’s chief operating officer, John Mulligan said. “Fast forward to today, and our investments in small formats and remodels have allowed us to reach more guests than ever before with an easy and inspiring shopping experience while offering industry-leading same-day services like Order Pickup and Drive Up around the country.”

In addition, to recognizing those big achievements, Target is set to remodel 1,000 stores by the end of 2020, and also open dozens of small formats each year, the company said.

There also have been several enhancements to such other areas as food, beverage, apparel, home décor and furniture, as well as continued expansion of the Order Pickup and Drive Up service.

Target is looking to continually remodel stores nationwide by lessening the disruption guests feel during the process, lean into elements that resonate with them most and give each store a fresh look and feel that also puts guests at the center of how they get their digital orders, the company said.
