Rite Aid expands age range for its COVID-19 tests

Rite Aid is expanding the age range for its COVID-19 testing. The Camp Hill, Pa.-based retailer said Tuesday that its no-charge testing sites will offer testing for symptomatic and asymptomatic individuals 13 years old and older beginning immediately as part of its partnership with the Department of Health and Human Services.

Testing previously had only been available to patients 18 years old and older. The expansion allows for parents and guardians to consent for anyone age 13 to 18 to get tested, accompanying them to the appointment and supervising the test. At the same time, Rite Aid said it will continue to expand its COVID-19 testing footprint to an additional 1,000 drive-thru locations.

“We’re proud to continue serving as an essential part of the pandemic response in the neighborhoods we serve,” said Heyward Donigan, Rite Aid president and CEO. “Making testing available — and now, to a broader age range — is an important next step in continuing to fight COVID-19.”

Rite Aid’s 301 testing in 15 states sites will continue to operate Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Patients must pre-register online to schedule a testing timeslot. Rite Aid said its testing sites would be temporarily unavailable on Thanksgiving Day and Friday, Nov. 27, with testing resuming on Nov. 28.
