Southeastern Grocers continues Florida expansion with Winn-Dixie

Winn-Dixie’s new North Florida store, set to open in 2023, will provide shoppers with a unique and personalized shopping experience, the company said.

Southeastern Grocers, the parent company of Fresco y Más, Harveys Supermarket and Winn-Dixie grocery stores, announced plans to continue its Florida expansion into 2023.

The Jacksonville, Fla.-based retailer said it will open a new Winn-Dixie store in North Florida, located at 999 University Blvd., in Jacksonville.

Scheduled to open in 2023, the store will offer College Park residents a unique and personalized shopping experience by providing fresh concepts and extensive offerings, as well as additional job opportunities for local community members, the company said.

“We are always looking to better serve our customers, and the new College Park Winn-Dixie store presents an exciting opportunity for us to expand in our hometown,” Anthony Hucker, president and CEO of Southeastern Grocers, said. “We plan to make a significant investment in the new store and provide more than 100 job opportunities to enrich the revitalization of the Arlington community and ensure our new customers receive remarkable service.”

Southeastern Grocers has renewed more than 70% of all of its stores throughout its footprint by enhancing the shopping experience for its customers, the company said.

The opening of this latest Winn-Dixie location builds on the company’s continuing expansion throughout the state of Florida, which include Winn-Dixie stores previously opened in the state’s St. Augustine Shores, as well as in Boynton Beach, Fort Meyers, Gainesville, Lakewood Ranch, Lake Mary, West Melbourne and two Jacksonville locations.

In 2021, the company also opened a new stand-alone WDs Wine, Beer and Liquor in Jacksonville, which is the first of a new concept that serves as a destination for fine wine, craft beer and quality liquor.
