Southeastern Grocers provided more than 19M meals in 2019

Southeastern Grocers is kicking off 2020 by celebrating its 2019 contributions to those in need.

The Jacksonville, Fla.-based company announced that it donated more than 23.1 million pounds of food to individuals and families during 2019.

“We are honored to serve our customers each and every day, and to demonstrate our values by caring passionately for the communities we serve. We are committed to fighting hunger and caring for the millions of individuals struggling with food insecurity and we know one meal can make a difference,” Anthony Hucker, president and CEO of Southeastern Grocers, said. “Together, with the kind-hearted support of our customers, associates and partner food banks, we were able to make that difference more than 19 million times this year.”

During 2019, the company and its Gives Foundation hotsed 34 mobile food pantry events throughout the southeast, which provided those in need with $850,000 worth of shelf-stable products, as well as produce.

In addition, Southeastern Grocers also donated $200,000 during Hunger Action Month, and hosted a holiday hunger program during the holiday season at its Bi-Lo, Fresco y Más, Harveys Supermarket and Winn-Dixie banners that raised $236,049.
