    To regain their dominance of the $16 billion U.S. beauty market, chains such as Walgreens, Target, CVS and Walmart are burnishing their images. Among the moves they are taking are:

  • Target posts better-than-expected Q3, raises forecast

    MINNEAPOLIS — Target CEO Brian Cornell says stronger-than-expected back-to-school sales lifted the retailer in the third quarter, prompting the company to raise its fourth-quarter sales and full-year earnings forecast. 

  • Target boasts supply chain talent as it nabs Walmart exec

    Target Corp. continues to beef up its supply chain management capabilities. 
     
    The discounter announced it has appointed Shekar Natarajan to the newly-created role of senior VP, network planning and operational design, effective Nov. 20.
     
  • Another high-profile Target exit: Grocery chief leaving

    That was fast.
     
    Anne Dament, senior VP of grocery merchandising for Target Corp., is leaving the chain, after less than 18 months on the job. Her last day will be Nov. 18.
     
  • E-hydrate expands distribution through Walgreens and several c-store outlets

    LOS ANGELES - With a growing footprint at traditional grocery retailers, E-hydrate, the maker of natural Protein On-the-Go, recently secured distribution through Walgreens, which added E-hydrate's two flagship SKUs in the top locations across the country.

    "Customers are now actively on the lookout for healthier choices when they're on-the-go," stated Jiam Kayser, E-hydrate chief sales officer. "Walgreens is right in line with our philosophy, and we're excited about the new focus on healthy food choices at Walgreens."

  • Optimum Nutrition launches Trusource sports nutrition brand nationwide

    DOWNERS GROVE, Ill. - Less than a year after launching its brand exclusively at Kroger stores, Optimum Nutrition's sports nutrition brand Trusource is expanding its retail presence to Target, Walgreens, Giant Eagle and HEB.

  • Target focusing on deals, value this holiday season — and John Legend

    Value and promotions will take center stage in Target Corp.’s holiday plans, along with a televised “musical” starring a 10-time Grammy-winning recording artist.

    In addition to new and exclusive merchandise in every product category, Target is offering an array of holiday deals, including the return — and extension by one week — of free shipping for all online orders from Oct. 25 through Jan. 1, 2017. 

  • Unilever's Walgreens team accepts RSi 2016 Awards for Excellence grand prize

    MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. - Retail Solutions, Inc. earlier this week announced the winners of the RSi 2016 Awards for Excellence. The 1st Annual Awards program recognized seven key supplier teams based on their achievements with data analytics in the retail space. The award winners were supplier teams working directly with their respective retail leaders at Ahold, Target and Walgreens.
