Zydus Cadila’s generic Antivert receives FDA OK

Patients with motion sickness and vertigo will soon have a new generic treatment to help deal with nausea and dizziness.

The Food and Drug Administration has green-lighted Zydus Cadila’s Meclizine hydrochloride tablets in dosage strengths of 12.5 mg and 25 mg.

The product is the generic of Pfizer’s Antivert tablets.

Meclizine is an antihistamine that is used to prevent and treat nausea, vomiting, and dizziness caused by motion sickness. It also is used to reduce dizziness and loss of balance, vertigo, caused by inner ear problems.

The drug will be manufactured at the group’s manufacturing facility at SEZ, Ahmedabad.
