Alembic obtains FDA nod for generic Cardizem
Generic Cardizem is indicated for the treatment of hypertension and the management of chronic stable angina and angina due to coronary artery spasm.
The Food and Drug Administration has given Alembic permission for diltiazem hydrochloride extended-release capsules, 120 mg, 180 mg, 240 mg, 300 mg and 360 mg., which is the generic of Bausch Health's Cardizem CD ER Capsules.
Generic Cardizem is indicated for the treatment of hypertension. Diltiazem hydrochloride may be used alone or in combination with other antihypertensive medications, Alembic said. It also is indicated for the management of chronic stable angina and angina due to coronary artery spasm.

Diltiazem hydrochloride ER capsules have a market value of roughly $105.3 million for the 12 months ending June 2024, per IQVIA.
