Amazon hiring additional 75K employees

4/13/2020

Amazon is ramping up hiring — for the second time in less than a month.

The online giant announced on Monday that it will hire an additional 75,000 workers to help serve customers “during this unprecedented time.”  The new workers will be in addition to the 100,000 new employees Amazon has hired since mid-March in full- and part-time jobs across its fulfillment centers and delivery network to keep up with surging demand during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Amazon also said it now expects to invest more than $500 million in payroll increases, up from its previous estimate of $350 million.

“We know many people have been economically impacted as jobs in areas like hospitality, restaurants, and travel are lost or furloughed as part of this crisis and we welcome anyone out of work to join us at Amazon until things return to normal and their past employer is able to bring them back, said Dave Clark, Amazon’s senior VP of worldwide operations and customer service, in a blog post on the company’s website. “We’ll continue to invest in safety, pay, and benefits for our teams who are playing an invaluable role in getting items to communities around the world.”
