Ascend Labs’ generic Jadenu Sprinkle obtains FDA approval

Patients with iron overload have a new generic treatment. The Food and Drug Administration has given the green light to Ascend Labs for deferasirox granules in dosage strengths of 90 mg, 180 mg and 360 mg. 

The product is the first generic of Novartis’ Jadenu Sprinkle.

Ascend has started shipping its product, which is available in a 30-count box.

Ascend also announced staff additions. Amit Ghare, president of international business at Ascend’s parent company Alkem, has relocated to the United States to join Ascend’s Parsippany, N.J. offices.

Ascend has named Rolando Morales as director of legal and compliance. Morales graduated from Fordham University with a master's degree in corporate compliance. Rolando will oversee a thorough compliance program, review all legal agreements, and act as a liaison between company executives and outside counsel.
