Bayer is making a hefty investment in its sustainability efforts.

The company recently shared that it will be investing 100 million euros to enable the sustainable innovation, production and consumption of its consumer health products, which includes the Aspirin, Bepanthen, Claritin and Elevit brands.

Equating to 2% of the division’s sales, the investment also will aid Bayer in driving the sustainable use of its products to help create a world where people can live healthier lives, the company said.

“The climate crisis impacts every family around the world, particularly those in underserved communities and is one of the biggest global health threats of our time,” Heiko Schipper, member of the board of management at Bayer AG, and president of Bayer’s consumer health division said. “Through this investment and our commitment to expand access to everyday health for 100 million people in underserved communities by 2030, it’s our aim to help create a healthier world for all.”

In addition, the company also shared its approach to helping it become climate neutral by 2030 and net-zero by 2050, which includes prioritizing sustainable brands, products and packaging; urging collective action; and taking specific actions to advance its commitments to net zero, the company said.

“No single entity can win the fight against climate change,” Schipper added. “We must come together under a shared vision to advance sustainable personal healthcare around the world.”
