The Consumer Healthcare Products Association has awarded its Ivan D. Combe Lifetime Achievement Award to longtime industry leader Scott Emerson.

This annual award — the highest honor bestowed by the U.S. consumer healthcare industry — recognizes the outstanding work and contributions of individuals whose actions have created a lasting impact on the people and the affairs of the consumer healthcare sector, and who have directly improved self-care for U.S. consumers.

The award is named in honor of Ivan D. Combe, an early industry leader and visionary who served on CHPA’s board of directors from 1958 until 2000.

Emerson has more than 30 years of experience working with consumer packaged goods companies and has held senior management positions with Fortune 500 companies.

During his lengthy career in the industry, Emerson was actively involved with CHPA, where he has been a member of the board of directors since 2006 and a member of the executive committee since 2017.

Notably, as chair of the CHPA Membership Committee for the past seven years, he worked tirelessly to bring many new members forward, serving as an important catalyst to the organization’s growth.

“Scott has made an enormous contribution, not just to CHPA, but to its members and the broader consumer healthcare space, as well,” said Scott Melville, president and CEO of CHPA. “He’s passionate about making lasting connections between brands and consumers, and is committed to mentoring and developing leaders for the future.”

Twice recognized by Mass Market Retailers as a “mass marketing executive who makes a difference,” Emerson has been a champion for product donations as part of CHPA’s diversity, equity and inclusion efforts, contributing more than $6.3 million in product donations.

“Like Ivan D. Combe, Scott has dedicated his life to the well-being of others, always giving back to the community and healthcare industry he helped build,” Melville said. “The Emerson Group has served as a sponsor for almost every CHPA event, including generously supporting this year’s inaugural Self-Care Leadership Series and Summit.”
