Following the announcement last week that Aldi has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Winn-Dixie and Harveys Supermarket as part of a larger divestiture of Southeastern Grocers to various entities, CVS Pharmacy and Walgreens will be acquiring the prescription files from select pharmacy locations at these stores.
CVS Pharmacy provided a statement to Drug Store News, which said, “CVS Pharmacy has entered into an agreement to acquire the prescription files from select pharmacy locations of Southeastern Grocers. We’re working to ensure that the transition will be seamless for patients and access to pharmacy care is not interrupted.”

The statement continued, “Upon the expected completion of the transactions later this year, the acquired prescription records will be transferred to nearby CVS Pharmacy locations. Employees of the closing pharmacies who are interested in joining the CVS Pharmacy team will be interviewed for positions within the company.”
The statement concluded, “We’re excited to introduce patients of these pharmacies to our best-in-class pharmacy services. CVS Pharmacy teams provide trusted advice and counsel to help our patients get and stay healthy by delivering innovative health solutions that create a simpler, more accessible experience for patients, customers, and caregivers.”
Walgreens provided a statement to DSN, which said, "Walgreens is pleased to have reached an agreement with Southeastern Grocers to acquire pharmacy customer prescription files from and related pharmacy inventory for select Winn-Dixie and Harveys pharmacy locations in five states. Customers do not need to take any action as their pharmacy files will automatically transfer to Walgreens. They will receive notification in the mail along with details about their prescriptions."
The statement continued, "We will also be providing employment opportunities for Winn-Dixie & Harveys’ existing pharmacy staff. Walgreens has a long history of serving communities throughout the U.S. and looks forward to providing Winn-Dixie and Harveys’ customers with greater access to a wide range of trusted pharmacy and healthcare services."
