Discount Drug Mart teams up with American Red Cross to help Hurricane Helene victims

Discount Drug Mart's 79 stores across Ohio are participating in the round-up and donation campaign to raise money for people impacted by the hurricane.

Discount Drug Mart, Inc., a family run, employee-owned company based in Ohio, is teaming up with the American Red Cross to help raise money for people who have suffered from Hurricane Helene. 

Starting Oct. 8, Discount Drug Mart will offer customers the opportunity to round up their purchase to the nearest dollar or to make a specific donation when checking out. All proceeds will go to the American Red Cross Hurricane Helene relief effort.

“When you see the devastation, you can’t help but want to assist the thousands who are trying to dig out and find some sense of normalcy after losing, in many cases, everything,” said Don Boodjeh, chief executive officer, Discount Drug Mart. “At Discount Drug Mart, we are all about community, whether it’s here in Ohio or across state lines. We want to help.”

Campaign which will run through Oct. 20. Customers can donate the change they would normally get back by rounding up to the nearest dollar. Customers can also make a specific donation if they would like to.

“Support from the community and partners like Discount Drug Mart, allow the Red Cross to help communities prepare for, respond to and recover from disaster. We are thankful for the partnership that lets us do lifesaving work," said Rachel Stine, executive director of the American Red Cross of Greater Akron and the Mahoning Valley. “Our relief campaign with Discount Drug Mart will run from October 8 until October 20.”
