Dollar General promotes executives

Four executives are assuming new roles in the store operations, legal and finance departments at Dollar General.

Dollar General is adding some new faces to its leadership division. 

Recently, the retailer shared that it has elevated four executives to new roles in the store operations, legal and finance departments.

The first of these appointments is Donna Hernandez taking over the role of divisional vice president of store operations.

Hernandez, who started at Dollar General in 1998 as a sales associate, has been promoted from within the company, most recently serving as regional director of store operations in the New Orleans, La. market.

She was also recognized in February 2021 by Business Insider as an influential Dollar General employee helping to revolutionize the chain.

The second promotion the company announced was that Dave Fentress would be taking over as vice president, of finance.

Fentress, who joined the company in 2003, earned roles of increasing responsibility and most recently served as vice president of internal audit.

He earned his Bachelor of Business Administration, Accounting and Master of Accountancy from the University of Tennessee and has his CPA certification.

The third promotion announced by the retailer was Jennifer Fletcher’s promotion to vice president, internal audit.

Fletcher first joined Dollar General in 2019, most recently serving as senior director, internal audit.

She holds a Bachelor of Science, Accounting and Finance from Oakland University and a Master of Business Administration from Walsh College, and has earned CPA and CIA certifications, the company said.

The fourth and final promotion shared by the company was that Adam Zager would be taking over as the new vice president of risk management.

Zager joined Dollar General in 2010, and has served in roles of increasing responsibility within the risk management department. Most recently serving as a senior director in the department.

In addition, he earned his Bachelor of Business Administration degrees from the University of Georgia in Finance and Risk Management and Insurance, the company said.
