Fresenius Kabi has named Christian Pawlu to lead Fresenius Kabi’s generics and complex unit formulations.

Pawlu formerly was Sandoz head of strategy, portfolio and BD& L, having joined the company in 2018. Prior to that, he led start-up Crystalline Mirror Solutions for nearly three years. Early in his career, Pawlu spent more than nine years at McKinsey, ultimately working as a partner in the consulting firm's global healthcare practice.

"I am excited to have joined Fresenius Kabi as Head of Business Unit Generics and Complex Formulations. Fresenius Kabi is a global leader in lifesaving medicines and a variety of technologies for critically and chronically ill patients," said Pawlu in a Twitter post.

Michael Sen

Pawlu is not the only new addition among Fresenius Kabi's execs. He joins the company shortly following the appointment of Michael Sen, who took the reins as CEO on April 12.  Sen succeeds Mats Henriksson, who left the company due to different views on its future direction.

Sen was a member of the management board of Siemens AG from April 2017 to March 2020, where he was responsible for the healthcare business Siemens Healthineers and for Siemens’ energy business. Prior to that, from 2015 to 2017, he was CFO of E.ON SE. At the start of his professional career,  Sen completed an apprenticeship at Siemens in Berlin and then studied business administration at the Technical University of Berlin. After graduation, he took on various management roles at Siemens starting in 1996 in both operating businesses and central divisions. From 2008 to 2015, he was a member of the executive team and CFO of Siemens Healthcare.

"Fresenius Kabi is committed to improving the quality of life of patients around the world. In my future role, I would like to continue to put patient well-being at the center of everything we do and play my part in continuing the company's successful development," Sen said. “I am very much looking forward to working with Stephan Sturm and the entire team on the management board of Fresenius, and of course with my more than 40,000 new colleagues at Fresenius Kabi worldwide. With courage, dedication and creativity, we can and will still achieve a lot together."
