Giant Food opening 2nd Virginia location

Giant Food is opening the doors of a brand-new location.

The Landover, Md.-based regional grocery chain announced that its latest store, located at 9400 Fairfax Boulevard, Fairfax Circle in Fairfax, Va., will be opening on Aug. 21.

Designed to address the way consumers are shopping by featuring expanded departments, additional amenities, as well as easier ways for shoppers to find the items they are looking for, this new store also will create 180 jobs for the local community, the company said.

Shoppers can expect to find an expanded prepared foods, meat and seafood service counters, a larger area housing natural and organic items, a fresh cut fruit juice station and juice bar, a full-service Starbucks with café seating, a beer and wine shop, a full-service floral shop, and lastly a PNC bank.

“Giant has had a presence in the Fairfax area since 1954 and we are excited to bring shoppers an additional location to better serve the growing needs of the community,” said Ira Kress, President of Giant Food. “With these added features and amenities, this store can serve as a one-stop-shop, making it easier and more convenient than ever for our shoppers to enjoy high-quality offerings. From produce to seafood to beverage, and so much more, every department of this location is designed with the shopper in mind.”

In addition, this new location also will support Giant’s Pickup service and the Giant Delivers options to schedule delivery straight to their homes.

Lastly, there also will be a nutritional value rating on item shelf tags throughout the store to help bring access and education around healthy food choices, the company said.
