Giant Food to redevelop Maryland location

Giant Food is giving one of its stores a brand-new look.

The Landover, Md.-based retailer announced that its 9580 Livingston Rd., location in Fort Washington, Md., will be undergoing a transformation.

"Giant's investment in this complete store redevelopment will bring a vibrant and exciting new face to Giant Food at the Livingston road location, furthering our service to the local community in Fort Washington, an area that we have served for 43 years," Ira Kress, the interim president of Giant Food said. "We are committed to offering our local neighborhoods great value, quality and selection across our stores and the rebuild that will take place in Fort Washington will do exactly that."

When completed, the redesigned store will contain more than 42,000 sq.-ft. to house a variety of new and such expanded selections as organic produce, a new natural food department, a full-service pharmacy, and its online ordering services, the company said.

In addition, the location also is to feature a full-service floral, deli, prepared food, bakery, seafood and meat departments, as well as a health and beauty care department that contains lighted shelving and improved amenities.
