Giant Food’s new Virginia store to celebrate grand opening

Giant Food’s store footprint is expanding.

The Landover, Md.-based retailer announced that a brand-new location in Springfield, Va., would be opening its doors on Nov. 13.

Located at 6364A Springfield Plaza, the store is set to feature such enhanced areas as an expanded natural and organic selection, a full meat and seafood service area, fresh-cut fruit and a larger produce section.

Other amenities visitors can expect to find include a full-service Starbucks, PNC Bank, floral shop, a wine and beer shop and an on-site pharmacy that will be providing such services as flu shots and free consultations, the company said.

“We are excited to continue to introduce stores which feature Giant’s new and improved store layout with a focus on quality food and convenient services, while remaining committed to providing a great value for customers,” Ira Kress, president of Giant Food said. “With nearly 70 years of serving the Fairfax County area, we are delighted to bring this brand-new store to the Springfield community.”

Shoppers also will be able to use either Giant Pickup or the Giant Delivers services, which can be accessed via GiantFood.com or on the Giant Food mobile app.
